July 2025: Preparing a partnership trial with measurable completion conditions
Retrospective archive for July 2025. Prepared on 6 October 2026; this is not an original article from that period.
A small partnership trial needs a clear ending as well as a clear purpose. In July 2025, define what each party needs to learn before deciding whether a proposed collaboration should continue.
Context for the period
The RBA’s May 2025 overview described easing Australian inflation alongside greater uncertainty about global trade policies. Read the contemporary RBA overview.
A practical approach
State the limited activity, responsibilities and information to be exchanged. Identify permissions and approvals before work begins. Agree what completion looks like and who reviews the result. Choose observable process criteria without promising commercial benefits or presenting targets as achieved outcomes.
An illustrative example
For example, a hypothetical trial involves producing a joint requirements summary for internal review. Completion means the summary addresses the agreed questions and both parties can assess whether another step is justified. It does not mean a long-term arrangement has been established. Keep the decision to continue separate from the activity’s completion.
Three points to take into the conversation
- Define the trial activity
- Agree completion conditions
- Review before continuing
Before progressing the conversation, check that the purpose, current information, responsible contact and next review date are clear. For a corporate-information, supplier or partnership enquiry, contact EJN Services through its own enquiry route.
