Handover open enquiries at financial-year end
Practical answer: Handover open enquiries at financial-year end
Give the receiving person a short summary of the purpose, documents, latest response and pending decision. Mark any estimates or approvals that need reconfirmation. Identify the current version of the brief. Keep sensitive commercial material in its approved location rather than copying it into a broad status report.
An enquiry started in one financial year may need a decision in the next. A June 2023 handover should preserve the current facts and the next action without suggesting that the change of year automatically changes an existing agreement.
Economic context
The RBA’s May 2023 overview described Australian inflation easing from its peak while services cost pressures remained substantial. Read the RBA overview.
An illustrative example
For example, a supplier has answered the technical questions but the business has not yet reviewed the proposal. The handover records “internal review outstanding”, with the reviewer and required date. That lets the next person continue from the actual stage. Confirm that the receiving person can locate the records before treating the handover as complete.
Three points to take into the conversation
- Summarise the current stage
- Locate approved records
- Confirm the receiving owner
Before progressing the conversation, check that the purpose, current information, responsible contact and next review date are clear. For a corporate-information, supplier or partnership enquiry, contact EJN Services through its enquiry page.
