How to review the business enquiry journey

How can you test a business enquiry journey?

Check that the page explains the enquiry purpose, the form asks useful questions and submission reaches the correct business. Confirm that a responsible person can find the message and reply through the intended channel.

An enquiry journey includes more than the form on a website. The visitor, the confirmation message, the receiving team and the eventual reply all need to connect.

Follow one authorised test enquiry

Use a non-sensitive example and an address you control. Read the page, submit the enquiry and check what the visitor sees next. Then inspect where the message arrives and who is responsible for responding.

Record any step that leaves the person uncertain. A confirmation should explain what happened without promising a response the team cannot deliver.

Check the whole route

  • The page explains the purpose of the enquiry.
  • The form asks only useful questions.
  • Submission reaches the correct business.
  • A responsible person can find the message.
  • A reply can be sent through an appropriate channel.

Test exceptions as well

Consider an incomplete message, a duplicate enquiry or an unavailable owner. The team should know how to handle these without losing the original request or sending several conflicting replies.

For a supplier introduction, the route may be a straightforward acknowledgement followed by a manual review. There is no need to add a promotional sequence unless the purpose and consent support it.

Keep the test record separate from genuine enquiries and remove it through the normal recoverable process when appropriate. Do not use real confidential customer material to prove the form works.

A useful review produces specific corrections, such as fixing a destination or naming an owner. Re-test the changed step so the improvement is demonstrated rather than assumed.

General business-process information. Check the circumstances and seek appropriate professional advice for contractual, legal or specialist decisions.
